Released in 1988, Grave of the Fireflies is based off the 1967 short story by Akiyuki Nosaka. Directed brilliantly by Studio Ghibli alum Isao Takahata, Grave of the Fireflies tells the story of Seita and Setsuko and their struggles during the last days of World War II. Set mainly during the firebombings of Kobe, Grave of the Fireflies is a powerful story of love and details how one's pride can lead to their downfall. In his 2013 review of the film, Bennett the Sage demonstrates his ineptness as a film critic. First by missing the overall message of the film, and then by attributing nefarious intentions to the film's director. If that wasn't enough, Bennett then embarrasses himself by failing to research sources and states facts that are categorically wrong.
