Asian PaCIVICS: KAT

Bay Area R&B and neo-soul artist KAT grew up in a Filipino household where mental health was rarely discussed. It's something she's spent her career working to change. For her Asian PaCIVICS project, KAT partners with the Kapwa Kultural Center in Daly City, a community hub supporting Filipino youth through culturally affirming programs in leadership, mental health education, and cultural identity. Drawing on her own healing journey, KAT uses music to help normalize the conversations her community was never given the tools to have.
