Oasis Location: Seattle, Washington, U.S.A Venue: WaMu Theater Date: 26th August 2008 Source: Multi-Sourced Recording (Thieving Magpie Merge) After their secret rehearsal gig in London two weeks earlier, the boys kick off the Dig Out Your Soul Tour with a couple dates in the States, beginning with this show in Seattle. Coincidentally, it would be this time next year when Oasis would split, and to say it would be a surprise would an overstatement. Noel has said in subsequent years that he never spoke to Liam on this tour except from when they were onstage, and it would be this growing apart from one another that would be the band’s disbandment. For the setlist it follows the same form as the previous rehearsal gig at Black Island Studios, though Waiting For The Rapture, My Big Mouth and I’m Outta Time have been dropped. But they would all return to the set in future. It remains unchanged apart from these omissions with only some minor different song placements. As for the performance, it is quite surprising that this is a very good show all-round. Coming off what had been a long period of rest (and another two-week break following the Black Island show) Liam sounds actually really good here for late 2000’s standards. While he was never magnificent on this tour tonight he does sound pretty strong. He takes a while to warm up but by the middle of the show he is pumped and puts in some very good renditions of Cigarettes And Alcohol and Morning Glory which sound far stronger than many versions from the previous tour. The band have nailed all arrangements of the songs on this tour as Wonderwall is played acoustically with Liam on vocals for the first time since 1996. By the second verse you can hear Gem on electric rhythm but the song mainly glides through the acoustic which Noel is playing which is great to hear. The instrumentalists all sound very good as well, and you wouldn’t think there was any animosity here at all by the way they’re all performing.
