This animated educational technique video shows you the fixation of a medial malleolar osteotomy and talar osteochondral fragment fixation using bioabsorbable Inion CompressOn™ screws. In this video, four bioabsorbable Inion CompressOn™ screws (2 x ⌀2,7 x 16mm and 2 x ⌀4,5 x 45mm) are inserted. This video is intended for educational purposes and does not contain any real surgical footage.
00:17 Insert the K-wires
00:25 Perform the osteotomy with an oscillating saw
00:32 Prepare the bone surface under the detached osteochondral fragment with a rasp and K-wire
00:46 Insert the K-wires and measure the depth
00:58 Advance the drill tap to the bone through the drill sleeve
01:01 Read the depth markings on the drill tap - ensure the bone hole is long enough
01:03 Remove the drill tap carefully from the bone using reverse rotation
01:07 Rinse the screw hole
01:11 Attach the Inion CompressOn™ screw to the screwdriver shaft
01:15 Ensure that the screwdriver is fully inserted in the screw head socket
01:20 Insert the Inion CompressOn™ screw fully into the bone over the K-wire
01:25 Advance the drill tap to the bone through the drill sleeve
01:28 Read the depth markings on the drill tap - ensure the bone hole is long enough
01:31 Remove the drill tap carefully from the bone using reverse rotation
01:34 Rinse the screw hole
01:37 Insert the second Inion ComperssOn™ fully into the bone
01:46 Reattach the osteotomy fragment
01:52 Drive the K-wires in desired depth in the bone
01:59 Measure the depth
02:07 Advance the drill tap to the bone through the drill sleeve
02:10 Read the depth markings on the drill tap - ensure the bone hole is long enough
02:16 Rinse the screw hole
02:22 Attach the Inion CompressOn™ screw to the screwdriver shaft
02:26 Insert the Inion CompressOn™ screw fully into the bone over the K-wire
02:30 Stabilize the osteotomy with two Inion CompressOn™ screws
