Rock Creek was the site of a small gold rush in the 1860s. There was an invasion of American prospectors who wanted to take Rock Creek for the United States. There was a series of events that occurred on this Creek that shaped the whole boundary district. Gold is still in Rock Creek, and the town is now a stop along the highway.
