More Dumb Scenery for My Slot Car Track – 3d Printed Construction Crane for Carrera Digital

Designing and 3d printing a construction crane as scenery for my Carrera slot car track to go along with the current urban downtown theme. A “sort-of” model of a crane was downloaded from Thingiverse but needed a lot of work to make it a functional print. Redesign of most of the components and splitting into separate .stl files were completed in TinkeCAD. All components were printed on a Bambu Labs P1S using Inland PLA+ filament. A motor pod was integrated to hold a motorized gearbox powered by a 12-volt motor to rotate the crane. The unit turns at 10 RPM @12 volts. A dropping resistor was added to slow the rotation down and it is wired directly to the track for power. Thus, the crane starts and stops automatically when the track is turned on and off. A worksite generator was designed and printed to hang from the crane which swings over the track. The height can be changed to clear any slot cars passing by, or lowered so the cars need to stop to avoid getting hit by the generator. ------------------------------------------------------ Other Slot Car Racing Videos that May be of Interest Playlist for those new to slot cars:    • Slot Cars for Newbies   Playlist for all Johnnie Hobby slot car videos:    • Carrera Slot Car Racing   Testing Guide Keels – Frankenslot, Slot Invasion, and Stock on Carrera Digital 132 Slot Cars    • Testing Guide Keels – Frankenslot, Slot In...   Slot Car Club Track Update March 2026 – Carrera Digital 124/132    • Slot Car Club Track Update March 2026 – Ca...   Carrera Slot Car Track Won’t Stay Together?
