‘Discovering’ the location of Dorestad (7th-9th century A.D.). Traveling from Wijk bij Duurstede, Utrecht to Rijswijk, Gelderland (Guelders/Gelre) across the river Rhine. This was also the location for the Roman castellum Duristate/Levefanum at the limes (Northern border of the Roman Empire). Dorestad was attacked multiple times by the Vikings. It was also fought over by the Frisians and Franks. Dorestad was located at the position where the Lower Rhine, Lek and Crooked Rhine meet eachother. The movie Redbad 754 A.D. about the Frysian King Redbad (Radboud), the monk/Saint Boniface (Bonifatius), the wars against the Franks and Dorestad by Dutch movie director Roel Reiné is expected to be released spring 2018 (754 A.D. Redbad, 754 After Christ Redbad, Redbad 754 na Christus). 754 A.D. is the year Boniface was murdered at Dokkum, Fryslan. 716 A.D. was the year Boniface first arrived in the Netherlands (http://www.redbadthemovie.com).
