Originally released in 2007, Ofrendas de Luz a los Muertos is a ritual collaboration between SoRIAH and noise artist Power Circus—a dense collision of Tuvan-inflected voice, percussion, analog synthesis and power electronics. Built as an offering to the dead, the work slowly gathers mass: waves of electronic sound rise beneath SoRIAH’s mournful, disembodied vocals until the music becomes something immense, crushing and strangely beautiful—a sonic procession calling the dead toward the light of the living. The original release described it as “a useful beacon for the dead,” with SoRIAH’s voice leading “deceased legions into the light of the living.” Nearly two decades later, Ofrendas remains one of the darkest and most uncompromising ritual works in the SoRIAH catalog.
