Through Hezekiah's Tunnel
Creation Date 22 Oct 2026, 1:29 PM
[Verse 1]
In ancient days, when the battle drums played,
The most powerful army, dark shadows were laid.
King Hezekiah faced a challenge so dire,
Water was scarce, in the heart of his empire.
[Chorus]
But he knew the Gihon Spring, so precious and deep,
Outside the walls, where the enemies creep.
With a vision so clear, and a heart full of grace,
He stopped up the spring, and brought water to the place.
[Verse 2]
Through solid rock, the workers did strive,
Carving out a path, keeping dreams alive.
Seventeen hundred feet, a journey begun,
Digging from both ends, united as one.
[Chorus]
Hear the echoes of voices, through the stone they did call,
Swinging picks in the dark, breaking barriers tall.
When they met in the middle, what a sight to behold,
Water flowed freely, as the story unfolds.
[Bridge]
Oh, the Pool of Siloam, where the waters do gleam,
A sanctuary of hope, like a long-lost dream.
Visitors today wander where legends remain,
Wading through the tunnel, with echoes of pain.
[Refrain]
If you took a step back in time, would you dare to believe,
In the faith of Hezekiah, the power to achieve?
Would you wade through these waters, where history sleeps,
With a flash of a light and secrets it keeps?
[Verse 3]
Each drop of cool spring water holds a story untold,
Of battles and courage, and a king bold.
With every step taken in this ancient thread,
Feel the weight of communion with the living and dead.
[Chorus]
But he knew the Gihon Spring, so precious and deep,
Outside the walls, where the enemies creep.
With a vision so clear, and a heart full of grace,
He stopped up the spring, and brought water to the place.
[Outro]
So step through the tunnel, feel the spirits around,
In the heart of Jerusalem, where the past can be found.
With water still flowing, and stories to tell,
Hezekiah’s faith echoing, ringing like a bell.
