Why can a star flicker while a planet looks steadier, even though both lights cross Earth's atmosphere? Follow real Sirius footage into original wavefront and wave-optics explanations, then compare a narrow source with a wider angular disk. The numerical comparison uses an illustrative phase screen, normalized coordinates and demonstration time. It explains a mechanism; it does not reconstruct the weather above the camera or predict a universal amount of twinkling. Planets can twinkle too. Image sharpness and brightness stability are different questions.
