Cory Booker Confronts GOP Over Trump — Then Jack Smith Confirms His Findings

Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) delivered a forceful critique of Republican priorities during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing featuring former Special Counsel Jack Smith. Booker challenged the committee's focus on Smith's investigation of Donald Trump, arguing that the events surrounding January 6 and the attempted disruption of the 2020 presidential election certification deserved greater attention. During the exchange, Booker revisited Trump's efforts to challenge the election results, the Capitol attack, and the treatment of federal prosecutors and FBI agents involved in the investigation. In a key moment, Jack Smith confirmed his investigation's findings that Trump caused the January 6 violence, that it was foreseeable to him, and that he sought to exploit it.
