Disney wrote off about $250 million when it closed a Star Wars hotel where 2 nights for 2 people cost $4,809, and that still isn't number 1 on this list. These are Disney's 7 biggest theme park flops, ranked by scale. Every flop gets its own card: the year, what Disney promised, how it ended and what it changed. Where Disney published a figure, you'll see the real number. Where it didn't, we rank by scale and don't make one up. The countdown starts with DisneyQuest, an indoor Disney park that was supposed to open in big cities everywhere. Next comes Pleasure Island, where New Year's Eve was celebrated every single night until Disney switched it off. Then there's the Rocket Rods, a ride reported to cost about $25 million that had to brake before every turn. Further up, California Adventure needed a $1.1 billion rebuild before people wanted to visit it, and Euro Disney lost about 5.34 billion French francs in its first full year, until a Saudi prince stepped in. Then there's the Galactic Starcruiser, where the closure cost about $2.5 million per cabin. Number 1 is a flop most people have never heard of, and it's bigger than all the others. Watch to the end to find out what it was and what's standing in its place today. 00:00 A $250 million hotel that isn't number 1 02:05 #7 DisneyQuest: a Disney park in a box 05:35 #6 Pleasure Island: New Year's Eve every night 08:40 #5 Rocket Rods: the future on a discount 11:20 #4 California Adventure: the $1.1 billion fix 15:05 #3 Euro Disney: debts, fees and a Saudi prince 19:35 #2 Galactic Starcruiser: $4,809 for 2 nights 25:20 #1 The biggest flop on the list 32:15 What every flop taught Disney #disney #themepark #galacticstarcruiser 📷 Photos: Jeremy Thompson (Wikimedia Commons · CC BY 2.0); Ken Lund from Reno Nevada USA (Wikimedia Commons · CC BY-SA 2.0); Tuxyso (Wikimedia Commons · CC BY-SA 3.0); HarshLight from San Jose CA USA (Wikimedia Commons · CC BY 2.0)
