Are Christians supposed to be rich? Is poverty a sign that something is wrong with a Christian's faith? And does God actually want His people to have wealth?
In this Episode of DO NOT PERISH DIALOGUES, Phumelele and Xabiso have a direct conversation about wealth, poverty, money, prosperity, and the Christian's relationship with riches.
The discussion examines whether Christians are meant to pursue financial prosperity and what Scripture actually teaches about wealth. Rather than treating riches as automatically good or automatically sinful, the conversation looks at the heart, intention, responsibility, and stewardship behind money.
Phumelele and Xabiso also address an uncomfortable reality within Christianity: the ways some churches and pastors have used the promise of financial blessing to manipulate people, exploit their faith, and enrich themselves. Where does genuine biblical teaching about generosity and blessing end, and where does financial deception begin?
The conversation also asks:
Why are so many Christians poor?
Is poverty always the result of poor decisions, a lack of discipline, or a lack of faith? Is wealth always evidence of God's blessing? And how should Christians understand the reality that faithful believers can exist at very different financial levels?
The episode also explores the intention behind wanting to become rich.
Is it wrong to want financial freedom? Can ambition be God-honoring? When does the desire for provision become greed, materialism, or an unhealthy love of money?
Ultimately, the discussion moves beyond the question of “How much money should a Christian have?” and toward a more important question: What place does money have in the life of someone who follows Christ?
In this episode:
