São Paulo -- Impressions

Sao Paulo represents the largest City in South-America. It is the capital of the Brazilian state São Paulo. Recent statistics document about 10,659,386 citizens living in Sao Paulo. People are commonly very religios and significantly often belong to the Catholic Church. The spoken language is Portuguese. Many immigrants such as Italians, Asians and Germans live inside this metropolis. The climate must be characterized as humid subtropical. The new down town area consists of high buildings and looks partly quite similar to towns in US-America. The sourrounding can look very different, mostly consisting of smaller houses. Poverty is often visible. Sao Paulo is located on a plateau belonging to the Brazilian highlands. Parts of the Atlantic rainforest "survived" inside town being called Cantareira and containing a large biodiversity including endemic species. The film presents impressions of different areas of the town mostly seen from the perspective of me as a zoologist and nature lover.
