GBAHS AUGUST 20, 2026 GM MEETING PROGRAM: “SRC LAND DEVELOPMENT CODE” by Dara Hartigan of SOS

The Gulf Breeze Area Historical Society is pleased by the return of Dara Hartigan, a vocal advocate on behalf of Santa Rosa County citizens for reasonable development. Dara was born and raised in Northwest Florida, and has a genuine interest in and love for nature. Having seen the tragic transition of the landscape over the years, in 2018 she founded "Save Our Soundside", a non-profit corporation that started as a grassroots organization in the southern end of the county. SOS has provided an opportunity for her to bring needed awareness about the local environment to the community, while her experience as a trial paralegal enables her to navigate the environmental laws, comprehensive plan, and land development code in order to propose and foster impactful change. Most recently, in partnership with "Bream Fishermen Association" (BFA), she and SOS were instrumental in the purchase by the County of 27-1/2 acres of environmentally sensitive soundside property in Gulf Breeze for conservation.
