Check out the original version video    • Cerrone: Heart Of Me (Official Music Video)   This was quite the find on vinyl. The song was released only in France as 7", 12" and CD single. I finally got a clean copy and sat down to record and clean it up and yeah, I finished the remix in a couple of hours. I got to thinking about Laura Branigan and how much I liked her and missed her. I've already remixed her "Gloria" and wanted something disco-ey and this fits nicely! Cerrone was the 70's disco producer extraordinaire in the vein of Giorgio Moroder. He first gained popularity as a member of the Kongas whose percussive disco cover of "Gimme Some Lovin'" originally recorded by the Spencer Davis Group in 1967 was a pounding #3 disco hit in 1978. He famously went on to create a pair of male sex fantasy disco hits "Love In C Minor" and "Cerrone's Paradise" that bordered on disco porn, along the lines of Donna Summer's "Love To Love You Baby" at triple the speed. He turned his attention to science fiction for his biggest hit "Supernature" that spent four weeks at #1 along with "Give Me Love" and "Love Is Here". His last disco chart hit was 1984's "Club Underworld" until he resurfaced with Laura Branigan handling the vocals for a song called "Heart Of Me" in 1989. After the club hits "Gloria", "Solitaire" and her biggest club hit ever, "Self Control", she released "The Lucky One" that got to #10, and then every song released afterward got an increasingly icy reception. Then, teaming up with Stock Aitken Waterman for "Shattered Glass" in 1987 got her a #13 chart hit. On "Heart Of Me" Cerrone successfully channeled the terrific trio who was behind the high energy sound of Dead Or Alive. This song was their only collaboration and it was for Cerrone's 1989 France only LP "Way In".
