When ‘I Don’t Know’ Is the Only Answer Left - Only Silence Remains

There comes a time in the unfolding of a life when the answers that once sustained us no longer hold. The ideas, beliefs, understandings, and certainties we have gathered along the way begin to lose their authority. Even the spiritual answers, the ones we held most dearly, can start to feel like echoes of something we have never truly touched. We spend so much of our lives trying to make sense of things, trying to understand ourselves, our suffering, our place in the world. We turn to books, teachers, philosophies, practices, and the accumulated wisdom of the ages. We search for the missing piece, the final revelation, the answer that will bring everything together. And much of this searching is necessary. It is part of the great journey of being human. Yet there is a point beyond which the search itself cannot take us.
