A long journey to Hong Kong & Macau 🇭🇰🇲🇴 In Part 1 of our trip, we started our journey from Surabaya and flew with Singapore Airlines to Singapore, where we spent a 9-hour overnight transit at Changi Airport. After a quiet night at the airport, we woke up early, explored a little more of Changi, and continued our journey to Hong Kong. The flight was calm at first, but our arrival in Hong Kong turned into something we definitely didn’t expect. Due to the heavy rain and thunderstorms that day, we had to make two attempts to land. It was honestly one of the most intense flight experiences I’ve ever had 🌧️✈️ And finally… we made it to Hong Kong 🇭🇰 This trip was also extra special for us because it was part of our first wedding anniversary journey. A getaway filled with long flights, airport nights, new places, and memories we’ll keep for years to come 🤍 My own travel diary from our summer trip. One small reminder if you’re planning a summer trip to Hong Kong: weather conditions can change quickly, especially during periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms. It’s always worth checking the latest weather forecast and rainstorm warnings before heading out. On 18 June 2026, Hong Kong experienced severe rain and thunderstorms, with the Hong Kong Observatory issuing the Black Rainstorm Warning twice that day.
