Gobustan, Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 is one of the most fascinating places we visited during my first trip to the country. We left Baku and spent the day exploring a completely different side of Azerbaijan — from the country's early oil history and Soviet-era Lada cars to bubbling mud volcanoes, prehistoric rock art and ancient fire sites. Our journey started at Bibiheybat, where we learned about Azerbaijan's oil history, before heading south from Baku toward Gobustan. We then switched to old Soviet-era Ladas and drove across dirt tracks toward the mud volcanoes — one of the strangest landscapes I've experienced. From there, we explored the Gobustan Museum and the open-air rock-art landscape, seeing ancient carvings and learning about the people who lived in this region thousands of years ago. The journey continued to Yanardag, the Burning Mountain, before we visited Ateshgah Fire Temple and explored its historic courtyards, chambers and exhibits. Oil, mud volcanoes, ancient rock art and fire — all in one day. This ended up being one of the most memorable days of my Azerbaijan trip. 📍 Baku, Azerbaijan 📍 Bibiheybat 📍 Gobustan 📍 Mud Volcanoes 📍 Gobustan Museum 📍 Gobustan Rock Art 📍 Yanardag 📍 Ateshgah Fire Temple If you enjoy travel, technology, business and discovering unusual places around the world, subscribe and follow the journey.
