The United States was discovering acid jazz, hip hop entered its so-called “golden era”, and UK rave music, with breakbeat hardcore and drum n bass, was spreading across the world. Born from common influences, such as funk and soul, acid house, and, of course, the first waves of hip hop, these different genres kept inspiring each other. Rapid drum patterns, strong and marked 4-on-the-floor, and familiar sounds from round basses and drum machines will guide you throughout your journey back in time. Japanese music once again shines thanks to its jazzy touch. The mix is punctuated with improvisations and jazzy chord progressions. If these vibes sound so nostalgic, it may be because of the other media that helped spread these scenes across the world, as this mix includes some tracks from the Seatbelts’, known for their work on the “Cowboy Bebop” soundtrack, and from Jun Chikuma’s fantastic work on the “Bomberman” saga (not to mention Laugh and Peace also worked on Vib-Ribbon OST).
