Basic Terminologies: Marfū‘ (مرفوع): A hadith that is attributed directly to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Mawqūf (موقوف): A hadith that is attributed to a Companion (Sahabi) and not directly to the Prophet ﷺ. Maqtū‘ (مقطوع): A hadith that is attributed to a Successor (Tābi‘ī), not to the Prophet ﷺ or a Companion. Sanad (سند): The chain of narrators who transmitted the hadith. Matn (متن): The actual text or content of the hadith.
