Seagate Drives 3 ST-251

Third Seagate video of 2026 Testing a Seagate ST-251 and later ST-251-1 Cyl 802 Heads 6 Sectors 17 40MB MFM encoding. Stepper motor actuator. The later variant was to have a faster access response time than a regular ST-251. In practice depending on the controller and PC it didn't always works any better. The first drive tested worked for a bit on the 8-bit controller used in an XT class computer the drive was set up for, but during the test the controller failed and corrupted the drive data. Since it was already backed up I did a Low Level format with the 16-bit controller and checked everything with spinrite before showing the test again. Hdtest showed much better results now that a faster controller was used. The second ST-251 variant was the original drive I got with the 286 motherboard before building this computer. All passed.
