To My Babies — Goddess K Original music and lyrics by Goddess K. 🎵 Written & Created: August 9, 2026 • 11:08 AM (Version 5.5) 🎧 Released: August 30, 2026 💙 About This Song To My Babies” was written for my children, my grandchildren, and the generations that will come after them. There were seasons when I thought I was simply trying to survive. I was counting every dollar, making home wherever we were, creating things before anyone could see what they might become, missing people I loved and wishing I could give more than I could at the time. Looking back, I realized those years weren’t empty. I was building. I was learning how to come home to myself, because loving my children also meant becoming whole enough to give from who I truly am. This song is something I want my babies to be able to hear years from now and innerstand that even when I couldn’t see the entire road, they were part of why I kept walking it. What felt like survival was becoming foundation. Every time I rose again, every time I chose myself, every book, every song, every dream I kept building… I was creating something I hoped they could one day stand on. To my babies, the ones that came from me and the ones that came from them… you were always in the plan. “To My Babies” is about looking back at years that once felt like waiting or survival and realizing they were not empty years. “I thought I was waiting for my life to start / Didn’t know I was laying every piece in the dark” captures that shift. The temporary rooms, financial stretching, unseen creative work, and decisions to keep going were all part of what I was building. The chorus expands that meaning across generations: “To my babies, the ones that came from me / And the ones that came from them.” Legacy here is not a promise that I can make every future perfect. It is the hope that the books, music, businesses, lessons, healing, and choices I make now can become something my children and their children are able to stand on. One of the deepest lines is, “Every moment I chose me / I was choosing all of us somehow.” Coming home to myself was not the opposite of loving my children. Learning to trust myself, regulate myself, value myself, and become more internally stable changed what I would eventually be capable of giving them. The song also tells the truth about distance and what I could not always provide in the way I wanted. “Baby, it was never ’cause I didn’t want you” holds the grief of missing family while still doing the work required to keep building. Love remained present even when circumstances were imperfect. By the end, “I thought I was surviving / I was building all along” becomes the meaning I want them to inherit. The hard seasons were real, but they were not meaningless. Every road that brought me back to myself was also shaping what I could leave behind for the ones who came from me and the ones who came from them. Listen. Reflect.
