With the many demands on our time and the enormous amount of stimulation we receive on a daily basis in the modern world, our minds are heavily prone to agitation and restlessness. Mind-wandering becomes the norm, and this results in an ongoing state of alternating arousal and exhaustion. During this one-day workshop, international meditation teacher Alan Wallace will guide participants in learning first how to cultivate a sense of ease in the mind and body. On this basis, training will be given to enhance mental stability, enabling one to maintain greater continuity of attention without succumbing to excess stress. With such grounding in relaxation and inner stillness, methods will be taught to enhance clarity and vividness of attention. Such attentional balance is an indispensable foundation for mental health and wellbeing and for all other kinds of meditative practice.
