This was a magical filming journey. As we traversed lush spring valleys, it seemed as if we could see a huge rivers of ice flowing through it. As we were boating on the deep lake, we seemed to see a kilometer-thick ice walls towering before us. On the road, our car passed through a basin like a Roman theatre. Neat mountain ridges on both sides surround the green fields.When I checked the satellite map, I realized these were the "footprints" left by glaciers that once stretched into the plains. Amid the bustling life of the Alps, we are constantly searching for the footprints of ancient ice and snow giants. Erratics, U-shaped valleys, moraines... The existence of these giants hint that a powerful force beyond human imagination once swept across this land. Yet we also witnessed another, faster transformation. As the cable car flew over the valley at the foot of the Matterhorn, we compared century-old photos to today’s landscape. A glacier hundreds of meters thick had vanished. The valleys that were once covered by it are now covered with trees. Are the Alps disappearing from us?
