Older Roosters Protecting the Growout Yard

Older roosters have surprised us in the growout yards. We’ve noticed the calm mature roosters are often more protective and watchful over the younger birds than the hens. They stay alert, keep the flock settled, and help create a calmer yard. This is one of our wooded growout yards here at Rainey Poultry in Emory, Texas. #chicken #homestead #backyardchickens #chicks #farmlife #rooster #poultry #heritagebreeds #freerangechickens #egg #chickensofinstagram
