In this episode I introduce a news story about the kanji you're allowed to use in a Japanese name. In Japan, the characters parents may choose for their child are actually fixed by law. This June the Ministry of Justice added one more character, 勒 (roku), bringing the total to exactly 3,000. The change came out of a court decision over one family's birth notification.
