Stoke Bardolph is a small, quiet riverside village and civil parish in the Gedling District of Nottinghamshire, England, sitting on the west bank of the River Trent east of Nottingham. Geography and Local Highlights Riverside Setting: The village is famous for peaceful, flat walks along the River Trent and nearby canal systems. Stoke Lock: A working lock built in 1923 that attracts walkers and boaters. The Ferry Boat Inn: A historic pub over 200 years old located directly on the riverbank where a passenger ferry used to cross to Shelford. History and Heritage Domesday Book: Recorded in 1086 as "Stoches," the settlement has ancient origins and historically included a church and a priest. The Bardolf Family: The village gets the second part of its name from the Bardolf family, early lords of the manor who built a moated manor house near the river.
