“The Greatest Thing I Can Do” is one of the most personal songs I’ve written. It was inspired by real moments sitting beside my daughter in church—watching her little feet swing from the pew as she asks me why Jesus is on the cross, why we walk down for Communion, and why Daddy sometimes has tears in his eyes. As a father, I know I won’t always have every answer. I can’t promise her riches or a life without pain. But I can teach her about God, tell her about Jesus, open the Bible with her, and help give her a foundation of faith that I pray she’ll carry throughout her life—and someday pass along to someone else. Of all the things I’ve done in my life, all the miles I’ve walked and sacrifices made, I believe this may be the greatest gift I can ever give my daughter.
