MRC Town Hall 10.28 11AM Central: Inspiring the Next Generation Through Stories of Service

Wednesday, October 28, 2026 How do we help the next generation understand military service, appreciate the sacrifices of veterans, and connect with the history behind them? Join Mission Roll Call for a live Town Hall with the creators and authors behind Great Battles for Boys for a conversation about storytelling, family connection, and keeping the lessons of service alive. Now streaming on Angel Studios, the animated series follows two best friends and their robot sidekicks through pivotal moments in military history. Inspired by the books, it brings lessons of courage, teamwork, and character to young audiences—opening the door for veterans and their families to talk about service, share their own experiences, and explore history together. Our guests include series co-creators Dan McDonough and John Blanford, filmmakers and co-founders of Pastime Pictures; Joe Giorello, whose passion for military history and determination to help his son enjoy reading inspired the original books; and Sibella Giorello, an award-winning journalist, bestselling novelist, and co-author whose work helps bring those stories to life for young readers. Together, we’ll explore how books and animation can spark curiosity, encourage reading, and help children better understand the veterans in their families and communities. We’ll also look ahead to Mission Roll Call’s upcoming partnership with Angel Studios and opportunities to connect with veteran families through meaningful storytelling. Bring your questions and join the conversation.
