A miracle draws a crowd, and the crowd does what crowds always do: they lock onto the most visible people in the moment and assume the power must be there. Working through Acts 3, we start with a modern rescue story, the 33 Chilean miners lifted from the darkness, and we ask the same question that hangs over the temple courtyard in Jerusalem: what if the power is never in the instrument at all? We follow the camera shift from the healed man to the onlookers, and we listen as Peter refuses both praise and spiritual hype. He will not let the crowd turn servants into saviors, and he will not let disappointment with human leaders become an excuse to ignore God. Along the way, we talk honestly about ministry platforms, personality-driven Christianity, and the pain of church hurt, then we re-center our gratitude where it belongs: thank God for the people he uses, but do not hand them the glory. From there, Peter sets our eyes on “the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob” and on Jesus, God’s glorified servant, the Holy and Righteous One. The Barabbas exchange lands with full weight: the murderer goes free, and the Source of Life is killed, then raised. Finally, we slow down on what “faith in his name” means, using the thick-ice illustration to show why the strength of faith is in its object, not its size. If you feel weak, guilty, or barely standing, Acts 3 offers grounded hope in the risen Christ who holds you fast.
