🇵🇹 FESTAS DE NOSSA SENHORA D’AJUDA 2026 | ESPINHO, PORTUGAL Experience one of Espinho’s longstanding traditional celebrations — the Festas da Cidade em Honra de Nossa Senhora d’Ajuda 2026. Filmed across different days of the festivities, this special 4K experience captures the colourful festival atmosphere at night, traditional flower and salt carpets, the majestic procession through Espinho, live music and the spectacular midnight fireworks. 🌙 FESTIVAL NIGHT • 18 SEPTEMBER 2026 Our journey begins in central Espinho, passing the Câmara Municipal before continuing through Rua 19 and the area around Casino Espinho. As night falls, the city comes alive with beautiful festival illuminations, food stalls, shopping stands, fairground rides and crowds enjoying the celebrations. The lively streets show another side of this traditional festival, where religious tradition comes together with music, entertainment and community celebration. 🎵 BOSSA NOVA • PRAÇA PROGRESSO The evening continues at Praça Progresso, where Bossa Nova was part of the official Nossa Senhora d’Ajuda festival programme at 21:30. These temporary works of art transform the procession route with colourful patterns and intricate designs before the ceremony passes through. We then make our way towards the church as the Majestosa Procissão de Nossa Senhora d’Ajuda begins. From the side of the route, experience the procession as religious images carried on traditional andores make their way through the streets of Espinho, accompanied by the local community. As the procession continues, it passes over the carefully prepared flower and salt carpets, transforming the temporary artwork beneath its path. After the procession has passed, we see how the decorated streets have changed and people gathering around the remains of the carpets. The procession eventually makes its way back to the church, bringing its ceremonial journey through the streets of Espinho to a close. 🎵 LIVE MUSIC • OS VIZINHOS As night falls, the celebrations continue with live music and entertainment. Historical records preserved by the Arquivo Municipal de Espinho document the Romaria de Nossa Senhora da Ajuda in the city as far back as 1912, showing that this celebration has been part of Espinho’s local traditions for more than a century.
