Every time I arrive at Kyoto Station, instead of taking a bus or the subway into the city, I walk. This time, I also went up to the rooftop of the station, for the view over Kyoto Tower and the Toji Temple. Then I took the north exit, walked past one of the Gion Matsuri floats, and followed the little Takase River all the way into the city center.
