Ken McCluskey (The Bluebells) Interview (6/16/24)

Ken McCluskey is a Scottish singer who has fronted the indie pop band The Bluebells since its inception. The original lineup included Ken (lead vocals and harmonica), brother David on drums, Robert Hodgens aka Bobby Bluebell (guitar) and Lawrence Donegan on bass. The band formed in 1981 and initially called it a day in 1986. But the band reformed in 1993 and several times in the new millennium. During their original run, the band only released one album proper, 1984’s Sisters. And just last year, after almost 40 years, the band recorded and released a 2nd album, "The Bluebells in the 21st Century". Post Bluebells, Ken and brother David formed The McCluskey Brothers releasing 4 albums together. There was also The Chain Gang, a one-off supergroup with members of Altered Images, Friends Again, Hue and Cry, The Pastels and others. My guest later became a music teacher and is currently a music business lecturer.
