World Championship match 1908, game 7: Emanuel Lasker, the champion, against Siegbert Tarrasch, in the McCutcheon Variation of the French. The early middlegame swings both ways: 17...Rac8 and 18.O-O are both mistakes, and 18...Qe4 is the only good reply. From move 28 Lasker holds a steady edge and presses it with precise moves; 33.e4, 34.Ne3, 36.Nf5+ and 45.Rg5 are all the only good moves at their moments. Black resigns after 76.h7, with mate in four on the board. Lasker vs Tarrasch — Emanuel Lasker vs Siegbert Tarrasch, Germany 1908. World Championship match 1908, game 7.
