We Drove Sani Pass in the Snow (And Almost Regretted It)

We set off from Durban taking the N3 toward Underberg, heading for Sani Pass to stay at the beautiful Mkomazana Cottages. Our goal for the trip was simple: drive up Sani Pass and see if we could find snow. What started as a magical, scenic drive into Lesotho quickly took an unexpected turn. Mid-way up the pass, a light dusting turned into a heavy, full-blown blizzard. Within minutes, the entire pass was covered in snow and ice. Navigating the steep switchbacks in whiteout conditions went from exciting to genuinely intimidating and there was definitely a moment where we wondered if we made a massive mistake.
