Architecture and the Environment | Siddarth Money on Climate Responsive Design | Design Karyashala

In this Design Karyashala Expert Talk, Siddarth Money of KSM Architecture reflects on the vital link between architecture and the environment. Known for his emphasis on common sense architecture, Siddarth shares insights on how design can respond to climate, geography, and context rather than relying on unnecessary systems or wasteful resources. Through examples like the Quest Learning Center, eco-conscious factory office design, and his own KSM studio, he explains how brick jack arch roofs, bamboo façades, and passive cooling strategies can reduce dependency on artificial energy. He stresses how climatology in design, passive ventilation, and natural materials lead to long-lasting, low-impact buildings. The session highlights topics such as low carbon construction, life cycle of interiors, and the importance of local craftsmanship in shaping environmentally aware spaces. Siddarth argues that good architecture does not require extravagant technology but rather contextual intelligence and sensitivity to place. For students and professionals alike, this talk is a valuable guide to designing responsibly while honoring both the environment and the people who inhabit these spaces.
