Welcome to my channel. Today, join me as we explore China’s most futuristic and sci-fi-inspired high-speed rail station—Hangzhou West Station. Hangzhou West Station has a total construction area of 512,220 square meters, with the station building itself covering about 100,000 square meters. It officially opened for operation on September 22, 2022. The design team adopted "clouds" as their core design concept, introducing ideas like "Cloud Valley" (central transfer system), "Cloud Hall" (waiting hall), and "Cloud Gate" (station square) as new interpretations of the "cloud" theme. This design not only echoes Hangzhou's unique landscape of "mountains wrapped in clouds and a river embracing the city" but also symbolizes the technological spirit of the Innovation Corridor in western Hangzhou. The most captivating features of the station include the space capsule-like ticket gates and the uniquely shaped domes. The design team used computer simulations to segment lighting zones, complementing natural light to softly illuminate the entire "Cloud Hall," meeting the lighting needs of the waiting area while being energy-efficient.
