I’ve Been Coming Here for 10+ Years… Now I’m Bringing My Kids! | Bristol Renaissance Faire Vlog

For more than a decade, the Bristol Renaissance Faire has been one of my favorite summer traditions—and this year was extra special because I finally got to bring my kids! 🏰❤️ Come along with our family as we spend the day stepping back into 1574 at the Bristol Renaissance Faire in Wisconsin! From jousting and music to living history, artisans, games, food, and all the wonderfully quirky characters wandering the village, there is SO much to see and do. And if you’re wondering whether the faire is actually worth bringing kids to—YES! There are tons of family-friendly activities, and you could easily spend an entire day exploring. 🏰 Things to See & Do With Kids ⚔️ Jousting & Live Entertainment Watch knights battle it out in the Joust Arena, catch musicians and performers on the stages, and keep your eyes open because entertainment happens throughout the village. Much of the entertainment is included with admission. 🎨 Queen’s College This is one of my favorite stops for families and homeschoolers! Kids can participate in hands-on activities and learn about historical arts and crafts like calligraphy, weaving, brass rubbing, candle making, heraldry, and more. There’s even a FREE children’s activity booklet for school-age children. 🛍️ The Marketplace There are more than 125 artisan shops to explore, with everything from handmade leather goods and jewelry to pottery, clothing, toys, soaps, and other unique treasures. You can also watch working artisans demonstrate traditional crafts. 🎠 Rides & Games There are plenty of activities for kids and adventurous grown-ups, including the climbing wall, games of skill, DaVinci’s Flying Machine, escape rooms, and more. 🍗 FOOD! And, of course, you can’t visit a Renaissance Faire without eating like you’re at a feast! Turkey legs, steak-on-a-stick, garlic mushrooms, chocolate-covered strawberries, ice cream, crepes, and plenty of other options are available—including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Tips for Taking Kids to Bristol • Plan to spend the whole day. There is far more to see than you can fit into a couple of hours. • Look at the entertainment schedule before you go. With multiple stages and activities happening throughout the day, having a few “must-see” shows in mind can help you make the most of your visit. • Don’t skip Queen’s College. Especially if you’re homeschooling, this is such a fun way to turn a day at the faire into a living history experience. • Let the kids explore. Some of the best parts of the faire aren’t necessarily the big shows—it’s seeing the artisans working, talking to characters, discovering little shops, and noticing all the details throughout the village. • Bring comfortable shoes! You’ll be walking a LOT around the 30-acre faire grounds. • Have a plan…but don’t over-plan. Leave room for wandering, spontaneous encounters, games, food stops, and whatever catches your children’s attention. • Check the theme weekend before you go. Bristol has special themed weekends throughout the season, which can completely change the experience. The 2026 season runs Saturdays, Sundays, and Labor Day through September 7.
