Who Actually Owns Greenland? (What the 2026 Deal Really Changed)

This September, Washington signed a deal over Greenland, but it still doesn't own it. This animated explainer sorts out who owns what with one simple frame: three layers. Denmark holds sovereignty, the final legal say. Greenlanders hold self-rule and control of their natural resources, with a legal path to independence. And the United States holds military rights, which the 2026 agreement expands, as the three governments describe it.
