Are Pickleball Players Taking Rec Games Too Seriously? | Juice Bros Pickleball

Are pickleball players taking rec games way too seriously? 👀🏓 Rec pickleball is supposed to be fun — but somehow we end up arguing over scores and line calls, targeting weaker players, getting frustrated with partners, stacking, strategizing between points, and treating an open-play game like there's a championship on the line. In this episode of the Juice Bros Pickleball Podcast, we ask where the line is between being competitive and simply taking rec pickleball too seriously. We share some of our own experiences — including a rec-game score argument that got completely out of hand — and talk about targeting weaker players, partner frustration, unsolicited coaching, stacking at open play, recording rec games, and whether some rec games SHOULD actually be taken seriously. We also turn the question back on ourselves: are we guilty of taking rec games too seriously too? Plus, in The Juice Press, we talk Canadian Nationals, the end of the MLP season, the return of PPA action, and the new Franklin paddle teased by Anna Leigh Waters. ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS 00:00 Intro + The Juice Press 03:56 Are Pickleball Players Taking Rec Too Seriously? 09:14 What Does “Rec” Actually Mean? 13:45 Targeting & Getting Mad at Your Partner 24:09 Can You Be TOO Positive? 28:27 When Should Rec Games Be Serious? 32:53 Do WE Take Rec Too Seriously? 38:33 Juice Bros Updates 🧃 QUESTION OF THE EPISODE What's the most ridiculous thing you've ever seen someone get upset about during a rec pickleball game?
