Nepal’s Deadliest Disaster — Minute by Minute. On Bhadra 10, 2083, a catastrophic collapse near Langtang Lirung triggered a devastating debris flood through the Rasuwa and Trishuli corridor. What first appeared on seismic monitors as a magnitude 5.2 earthquake became a Himalayan tsunami of rock, ice, water, mud, and debris. Within minutes, the Rasuwa flood tore through Rasuwagadhi, Timure, Syafrubesi, Betrawati, Trishuli Bazaar, Devighat, and downstream settlements—destroying infrastructure, reshaping riverbanks, and leaving a trail of devastation across the Trishuli basin. In this video, we reconstruct Nepal’s deadliest disaster minute by minute using 3D visualisation, satellite imagery, CCTV footage, eyewitness accounts, scientific research, and geographic analysis. We examine how the Langtang Lirung collapse occurred, why it was detected as seismic activity, how the destruction spread downstream, and what this disaster reveals about the growing threat of glacial and mountain hazards in Nepal.
