Then a late-day fade in oil pulled the S&P back above a key trend line into the close. Gareth walks through every chart that matters heading into next week. 📊 S&P 500. Down as much as 2% intraday, then recovered to close at or just above the 7,580 trend line Gareth has tracked for months. He still sees a path to 8,000, but oil has to come down first. 🔴 NASDAQ. The Nasdaq 100 was down 4.5% intraday and as much as 10.5% from its recent peak. Gareth calls it a breakdown. 🟡 OIL. Traded up near $105 and above its wedge, then faded to about $103 and closed back inside. No breakout yet. The late-day drop in oil is what sparked the stock market recovery. 🟢 INTEL. Down more than 30% intraday. Gareth is watching a major trend line near $60 for a potential short-term swing long. 🟡 GOOGLE. Gap fill, 50% Fibonacci retrace and an ascending trend line line up as an accumulation zone. 🔴 SERVICENOW AND THE SAASPOCALYPSE. Down 25% to 30% on fears that AI makes software-as-a-service obsolete. Oversold short term, but the bottom is unclear. 🟢 REDDIT. Down 29%. Support around $82 looks interesting. 📊 VIX. Spiked above 20, then collapsed as soon as oil rolled over. 🔴 GOLD. Down 3.5% and below 3,900. Next pivot at 3,700 to 3,750, with 3,500 the zone to start nibbling on physical metal. 🟢 SILVER. Flushed below 50, retesting the 1980 and 2011 highs. Gareth flips bullish near term and would not be shocked by a sharp bounce toward 55 to 60. 🔴 BITCOIN. Broke 81K before the reported Binance hack, setting up Gareth's 75.5K target. Next support is roughly 1,300 lower. 🔴 NATURAL GAS. Still weak despite strength in oil and seasonality. 🔑 CAPITAL TO CASH. Money only partly rotated into defensives and bonds. Some moved to cash, a sign of real fear. Gareth was nibbling on quality names at key supports. 🔑 KEY TAKEAWAY Oil is the lead chain around the market's neck. When it rolled over, stocks recovered and the VIX collapsed.
