Nobody at the school knew he was coming, they'd only been told someone was going to read to the elementary kids, so Bobby showed up, read to them, then talked to the high schoolers and told them he'd sat in that exact auditorium growing up, so if he could do it, so could they. Through Dollar General's literacy program, every kid got a book and the school library received a $50,000 donation. Bobby explains why he asked for that school in particular: since the sawmill closed, fewer families move to town, and rural schools like his have struggled.
