Beyond the Game. Into the Community. As part of the ALGA CEOs Forum – The Black Table: Where Africa Decides – the African Lotteries & Gaming Association (ALGA) visited Susan Ngcobo Primary School in KwaZulu-Natal as part of its first CSI experience, powered by the Hollywood Foundation and facilitated with the support of the KwaZulu-Natal Economic Regulatory Authority (KZN ERA). Delegates were given an opportunity to hear the story of a school navigating the realities of growing learner numbers, overcrowding and limited educational resources — and to witness how purposeful social investment can help transform these challenges into opportunities. The visit offered a powerful reminder that the impact of the gaming and lotteries sector extends far beyond commercial performance. When industry revenues are responsibly reinvested into communities, they can help strengthen schools, improve learning environments and create opportunities for young people to learn, develop and thrive. For the leaders gathered at The Black Table, this was more than a CSI visit. It was an opportunity to see the good cause ecosystem in action — and to reflect on the responsibility the industry carries to contribute meaningfully to the communities it serves.
