Hegra is Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site (it was inscribed onto the list in 2008) and a thriving Nabataean city from the middle of the 1st century BCE until around the 2nd century CE. A fascinating collection of more than 131 monumental decorated tombs carved into the colossal sandstone outcrops that surround the ancient city, are impressively well preserved.
