Personal Growth in Evangelion and Gurren Lagann

Neon Genesis Evangelion and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann feel like they should be opposites, but in this epic video essay I try to argue that they are actually cool and chill with each other. Evangelion, despite its bleakness at times, still presents a hopeful message in the end, one that works with many of Gurren Lagann's central themes.
