Episode 320: Philemon 1-25

November 5, 2026: Onesimus Returns to Philemon Onesimus, a slave belonging to Philemon runs away and stays with Paul. Onesimus had stolen from Philemon. Onesimus had been converted by Paul and wanted Onesimus to return to Philemon and be reconciled with him. The question of the theft and restitution is certainly an issue. But so is the fact that one is a slave and the other is not in a socioeconomic sense while in the spiritual sense they are equal in the eyes of the Lord. How should this be dealt with in the real-world situation. The letter doesn't address the issue, but it is one that needed attention. And given Paul's position on equality in Christ, an issue that should have been dealt with.
