Today we head straight into a smorgasboard of DPR Korea athletics in perhaps the most action-packed single-day lineup at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya. In the morning, we arise bright and early for the start of the men's and women's marathon. After the athletes exit the stadium, we talk about the historical significance of Paloma Mizuho Stadium and the Asian Games new flame. We also delve into the illustrious history of Marathon running in the DPR Korea, including the feature length motion pictures "Run and Run" and "Run to the Sky". We then go into a short break of sprinting, long-jump, and shotput before finally witnessing the end of the marathon. While DPR Korean runners failed to medal, Han Il Ryong had a thrilling challenge at bronze in the final moments. This was followed by a brief break for calisthenics and local pork cutlet. Then we headed straight to Nagoya City Trade and Industry Centre for the weightlifting. It was a stellar performance there for Ri Won Ju, who outdid Japan's Miyamoto Masunori for a record-setting gold medal. I then departed the weightlifting for the long 90 minute trek to Toyota City for the men's football final. Despite a rain-soaked cheering experience in the suspiciously uncovered away fan stands, hundreds of loyal chongryon supporters cheered loudly in the face of adversity. But ultimately, a controversial no-call on a hack from a Japanese player enroute to a goal led to a short match protest from goalkeeper Kang Ju Hyok. In the end, the DPR Korea men were not able to equalise, and lost a heart-breaker. With the men's hopes dashed, we reflect on an exciting Asian Games run, an unforgettable cheering experience, and looked ahead to the women's semi-final.
