The Gospel - Chapter One: Baptism, Temptation & The Baptist

Episode one dives right into the foundational moments of Jesus' mission, starting with his baptism. His baptism wasn't about repentance, but about officially launching his calling and reaching out to everyday people. After his baptism, Jesus headed straight into the wilderness for a brutal forty-day fast where the devil tried to trip him up when he was most vulnerable. Instead of falling short like many of us do, Jesus leaned entirely on God's Word to demonstrate how to overcome sin by the power of the Holy Spirit. Setting the stage for all of this was John the Baptist, who was drawing massive crowds in the desert and completely refused to make the hype about himself. When Temple religious leaders showed up to interrogate him, John made it crystal clear he was just the warm-up act, famously declaring he wasn't even worthy to untie the sandals of the Savior who was already standing right in front of them.
